Babel On And On
By Kevin Featherly, Newsbytes
This site examines the myths and legends surrounding antiquity's Tower of Babel, including some anthropological evidence that such a structure may have actually existed. The site explores equivalents in different cultures, and the evolution of thinking that resulted in the concept. Resources range from the dryly academic to the fun, and the layout of the online mini-encyclopedia is nicely inviting. Check out the art section , where an illustration from around 1150 A.D. in from Salerno, Italy, depicts the Tower of Babel as what looks like a modern skyscraper.
